Latin Name: Bos primigenuis

Habitat: Captive bred on Agricultural holdings.

Diet: Grass, hay, silage and concentrate feed.

Lifespan: Up to 20 years

Average Size: Weight: Up to 318 Kg., Height: 1.1 metre

Characteristics:

Dexters are the smallest of the European cattle breeds, being about half the size of a traditional Irish cow. They have a relatively wide and deep body and short legs and a small head.  Dexters come in a variety of colours but predominantly in red or black. They are know for their hardy qualities and are suitable for all year round outdoor grazing on rough terrain.
