Characteristics:

The Cape Barren is a large bulky goose with almost uniformly grey plumage bearing rounded black spots. The tail and flight feathers are blackish and the legs are pink with black feet.  They have a short black bill and green cere giving it a very peculiar expression. These birds spend most of their day feeding by grazing grass and are rarely seen swimming. They are one of the rarest of the world’s geese and are generally confined to costal areas of Australia.
