Great Grey Owl
Origin: Strix nebulosa

Habitat: Coniferous forests, open areas, meadows and bogs.

Diet: Small rodents, rabbits and frogs.

Lifespan: Up to 40 years

Average Size: Height: Up to 84cm, Weight: 1814 grams

Characteristics:

The Great Grey Owl is a large grey owl and with dense fluffy plumage, long wings and tail and a large head, yellow eyes, with no ear-tufts.  They have extra large facial discs,  the largest of any raptor, helping to give them an amazing sense of hearing.  They are the tallest owl in the world with the largest wingspan of up to 155cm.  As with most owl species the males are smaller than the females.
